The Finnish archipelago is a natural sea labyrinth boasting more than 40 000 islands. By some definitions, it is the largest archipelago in the world. We invite you to join us on an idyllic weekend getaway on the picturesque island of Houtskär where we will enjoy cosy accommodation by the sea, bbq evenings and storytelling by our local guide. In addition, you will have the possibility to explore the archipelago by kayak and boat.

The Turku archipelago offers numerous possibilities to enjoy wild nature and scenic views! Cycle, hike, or do a boat trip - ask your guide for tips on hiking trails and equipment rental in the area.

Extra activities can be bought through your user account on www.timetravels.com until 9 days before the trip departure or until they are sold out.

Activities "not available now" are expected to be on sale online or upon arrival at the destination.

At the destination the activities cost +5€ except for the activities not on sale online.

Travel Heath Insurance

We recommend travellers to have insurance that covers cancellations due to sickness and accidents.

If you do not have one, from your user account you can add Health Insurance until 9 days before the trip departure.

DAY 1 - Departure and arrival in the archipelago

Afternoon - Arrival at the destination

Master the art of preparing a traditional Finnish fish soup, known for its rich flavours, along with the famous archipelago bread, a dark, sweet rye bread with a hearty texture.

Free time for sauna and chance to BBQ 

DAY 2 - Hike and boat (optional), Archipelago kayaking adventure (optional)

Morning - Hike and boat (optional)

Our Hike & Boat activity begins with a 6 km hike to Borgberget. The trail starts from our accommodation and winds through Houtskär until we reach Borgberget with its breathtaking bird watching tower. Arriving at the birdwatching tower, you'll be treated to a well-deserved lunch with a view. After our lunch we take a boat back to our accommodation. This historic boat was used to transport sheep and other farm animals from islands to islands over a hundred years ago in the archipelago. During the boat ride you can enjoy the views while listening to our captain's stories about the archipelago. 

Afternoon - Archipelago kayaking adventure (optional)

Discover the captivating beauty of the archipelago through a kayaking experience.
This activity includes a kayak, paddle, and a comfortable drysuit and a life vest ensuring a safe and enjoyable adventure.
A basic level of swimming proficiency is recommended in order to participate.

DAY 3 - Nagu, Pargas and arrival home

Morning - Check out from our accommodation and departure from Houtskär

Noon - Hike in Nagu (included for everyone)
We take hike to a high point in Nagu to get a spectacular view of the archipelago.

Afternoon - Guided bus tour in Pargas (included for everyone)
Dinner break in Pargas

Amenities

We stay in cottages and shared rooms.
Kitchen, shower and bathroom are located in another building. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering with stove, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, coffee maker and kettle.

Two breakfasts are included in the price. 

We are a group of friends. Can we stay in the same accommodation? Should we book the trip together?

About 10-14 days before departure, everyone who has signed up for the trip will receive an email containing a cabin sign-up document where you can choose the cabin you would like to stay in and the people you would like to share it with. If you don’t receive this email, check your spam folder, ask your friends to share it with you or contact our Customer Service Team.

How do I choose the cottage or room?

The specific accommodation option depends on availability. To specify your choice, about 10-days before departure, we will send you the accommodation sign-up with the options actually available for your trip.

What if I need to book a transfer before/after the trip?

We recommend to book transfer arriving at least 2 hours before the departure time.
We recommend to book transfer departing at least 4 hours after the arrival time.

Is there a luggage size limit?

You can travel with:

• 1x 15kg luggage to store in the bus trunk; and

• 1x small backpack to take with you during the bus ride.

Note! Big luggages are only allowed after contacting our customer service team [email protected] and receving the space availability confirmation.

What is the bus like?

Most of our busses are from 50 to 65 seaters with bathroom and wi-fi.
In case of last minute changes due to tecnical needs the bus might be smaller and/or without wi-fi.

What happens if I am found drunk during the journey and activities?

During the trip the participants are required to be physically and mentally fit.

 

There is zero tolerance for abusive behaviour. A person suspected of being intoxicated has to be reported to Timetravels guide and contact person.

People suspected of being intoxicated are denied boarding of the bus without the right to refund. If the case occurs during the trip, their travel may be aborted for safety reasons and any unused part of the tour package won’t be compensated.

Is the trip suitable for travellers with disabilities?

As much as we would like to welcome everyone, to ensure the trip is suitable for you, please, take into account the following conditions:

  • The transportation is by bus. You should be able to board and get off the bus on your own;
  • Due to the variety of accommodation we use, we cannot ensure accommodation with a lift. You should be able to go up and down the stairs on your own;
  • Some activities might require walking or standing for a prolonged time. You should be able to walk at an average speed (1km in 15min ~5km/h) and stand for 3-4 hours;
  • You are able to walk on snowy and icy surfaces*;
  • You don’t need third party's support during the trip. If you need third party support, another traveller is your travel companion who will assist you for the whole trip duration. Before booking the trip, please, contact our customer service team.
