Gotland is a special place in the middle of the Baltic Sea. Just a short trip from the Swedish mainland, but still more exotic than you’d think. This rugged island, shaped by the rough sea around it is completed with the cutest town of Visby with idyllic narrow streets and medieval buildings, green gardens, and an occasional familiar backdrop from Pippi Longstocking.

DAY 1 - Ferry to Gotland and Visby guided walk tour (included)

The departure time might change +/- 2 hours.

09:30 Departure from Stockholm, Kungsbron next to Cityterminalen.

10:15 Arrival at the Nynäshamn harbour.

11:25 Departure from Nynäshamn harbour to Visby, the main city in Gotland.

Afternoon activity -  Visby walk tour

We start our guided walk in Visby. The town wall and many historical buildings gave the medieval Hanseatic city of Visby a place on UNESCO’s world heritage list. The town wall, almost 3.5 kilometres in length, is one of the world’s best-preserved city walls. Several of the magnificent medieval trading houses, with their characteristic, stepped gables, are still standing, as are many of the 17th and 18th-century wooden buildings.

After the city tour, we make a stop at a supermarket and go to our cottages, located by the sea. Free time to have dinner with your friends, as your Timetravels guide will invite you to a grill gathering by the shore to get to know your travel mates, Timetravels will provide the charcoal.

DAY 2 - Day-trip to Fårö (not included)

Daytime activity - Daytrip to Fårö

Departure for a day trip to Northern Gotland and its neighbour island Fårö. Northern Gotland is the best area to explore “Raukar” – rock formations unique to Gotland's coastline. Farö's scenery is different from the rest of Gotland, even though it only takes seven minutes by ferry to cross the strait. The landscape is more barren, and the sand on the beautiful bare beaches seems even finer. We take a look at the incredible Langhammars Sea Stacks and Helgumannen fishing village. Tiny fields and buildings dot the landscape, and many structures unique to the island are roofed with sedge, a tradition that has been abandoned elsewhere. Farö's most famous resident was Swedish Film Director Ingmar Bergman, who died at his home on the island in 2007.

Evening

Back in the camping area. Timetravels has booked a slot for the Swedish sauna by the sea, and it's free use for you! You can also hike along the coastline to Visby center and get a closer look at the area.

DAY 3 - Eksta Kust (included) and return home

Morning activity - Departure towards Eksta Kust

We drive south for about an hour and take a beautiful 1,5h walk on the nature reserve on the southwest coast of Gotland after which we admire views from Högklint - one of Gotlands highest cliffs that offers a magnificent view of Visby and the Baltic Sea. In Visby, you still have some free time for sightseeing. You can follow the footsteps of Pippi Longstocking, visit the Gotland Museum or have a fika in one of the cosy cafes and try out the traditional Safran pancake.

If you need to book a transfer flight, train, bus or ferry, from your arrival point, we recommend selecting only departures at least 2 hours after the estimated arrival time.

16:00 Ferry departs from Visby to Sweden mainland (3-4 hours duration). Meet by the bus, that takes you back home.

20:30 Estimated arrival in Stockholm. End of the trip.
