You can travel with:

1x 15kg luggage to store in the bus trunk (size is not important!) and
1x small backpack to take with you during the bus ride

Meals

In order to keep trip prices as low as possible, all cottages are self-catering – breakfast, lunch, and evening meals are not included.

Each accommodation has good cooking facilities. Kitchens are equipped with plates, glasses, mugs, a 2-ring electric hob, microwave, water boiler, coffee machine, toaster.

Meals are not included, but we make a stop to buy groceries on the way to your destination. You can, for instance, decide with your accommodation group what you are going to cook together and share the groceries and costs. Ovens are not present in every accommodation, so don’t buy food like frozen pizza, chicken, etc.

Grocery shopping: We recommend you to do all your shopping on the way to the destination. You can save quite some money if you and your roommates decide to cook together.

Extra activities which are not included in the trip package

Extra activities can be bought through your user account on www.timetravels.com until 9 days before the trip departure or until they are sold out.

Activities "not available now" are expected to be on sale online or upon arrival at the destination.

At the destination the activities cost +5€ except for the activities not on sale online.

Hiking clothes and boots

To hike safely, we recommend to prepare your gear according to weather and ground conditions. As a minimum:

  • waterproof and windproof jacket
  • rugged outdoor pants
  • hiking boots protecting your ankle
  • a thermal layer in case temperatures drop to -5 C

Important! Hiking clothes and boots rental is NOT possible at destination.

Bedlinen

The accommodation includes the mattress, pillow, and blanket/duvet.

For bedlinen, you have two options:

  • You can bring your own,
  • Rent once at the destination for 18-25€/stay according to the exchange rate


Important! sleeping bags are NOT allowed. Fitted bed sheets are also not recommended as the sizes of beds may vary. 

Accommodation cleaning

The final cleaning is not included.

In case the accommodation is not in the same conditions as when you arrived, a 250€ fee will be charged.

Insurance

We recommend travellers to have insurance that covers cancellations due to sickness and accidents.

If you do not have one, from your user account you can add Health Insurance until 9 days before the trip departure.

DAY 1 – Departure day

The departure time might change +/- 2 hours.

You will select the exact departure place from the available one, when booking the trip.

Please, arrive 30 minutes earlier at the departure point!

DAY 2 – Arrival in Svolvær, welcome to Lofoten!

Shopping break at a grocery store. Buy all groceries you will need for the rest of the trip.

Meeting with the guide and check-in at your accommodation

Evening - welcome gathering (weather dependant)

- Get to know you travelmates and your guide

- Coal and wood is provided

DAY 3 - Day trip to Hennigsvær and Haukland beach (included), Sauna evening (optional)

Full day activity - Day Trip to Haukland beach with hike and Henningsvaer (included)

Possibility to hike on your own to Mannen, guide will show you where the trail starts

DAY 4 – Day trip to Reine and Å (optional)

The schedule of this day is weather dependant.

DAY 5 – Transportation for the hike to Ryten and Kvalvika beach (optional)

Full day activity - Bus transportation to Lofoten hike - Ryten & Kvalvika beach (optional)

Guides will give you all directions and maps for possible hikes in the area
(Ryten, Kvalvika)

 

Safety instructions for all Lofoten hikes

-Please, choose hikes according to your hiking/endurance level. Routes might have some steep parts, rolling stones, uneven surfaces, wet swampy areas, and snow.

-They do not require any rock climbing skills, but please, be careful and don't hike alone.

-Always have at least one working mobile phone in your hiking group

-If it’s your first hike, don’t hike alone

-If you feel that hike is too difficult for you, it's better not to continue.

-choose right clothes for the hike - remember that it might be windy and cold on the top

-prepare packed lunch and water to take with you on a hike

-don’t forget to have breakfast to avoid fatigue during the hike

 

DAY 6 - Trollfjord cruise (optional), Sea kayaking for beginners (optional)

Checking out from the accommodation and storing the luggage on the bus.

Today you will see the beauty of Lofoten from a new perspective. Water activities are a must while in Lofoten, all against the backdrop of majestic mountains and tiny villages.

Morning activity - Sea kayaking for beginners (optional)

What is included in sea kayaking for beginners?

- floating suit

- experienced kayak guide

- splash cover, paddle, and life vest

- kayak shared between two people

What should kayakers prepare for the activity?

- wool underwear (it’s going to be COLD and WINDY in the sea)

- waterproof/windproof jacket and boots

- change of clothing (you will get a bit wet while kayaking)

- bottle of water (and a bit thirsty too :)

Afternoon activity - Trollfjord cruise (optional)

Experience the majestic Trollfjord in search for its white-tailed eagles

There is inside and outside deck on the boat

The boat has a toilet, but does not have WI-FI

Should you need to book a transfer after the trip, please, consider only departure

The accommodation type varies depending on availability. Most of the accommodations that we use are cabins with private toilets and kitches, but sometimes we use hostel or hotel style accommodation with shared kitchen and toilets. All the accommodations are surrounded by the mountains in the Lofoten Archipelago. You will find out the exact type of accommodation when we send you an email with accommodation signup. 

Please note that:

- the accommodations have different standard beds according to availability: double beds, bunk beds, pull-out sofas and loft beds. 

- sleeping bags are NOT allowed

- Some accommodations have WI-FI, some don't.

- The pictures are for reference only. 

- The actual accommodation size and style is dependent on availability

We are a group, can we stay in the same room/accommodation? Should we book the trip together?
We understand that it is important to stay with your friends and we will try our best to consider all requests.
 
You can have a group or individual bookings.
Please, ensure you have booked the same trip and accommodation category.
 
Before the departure, you will receive the accommodation sign-up link by email.
The first of your group to open the email can assign all of you to the same accommodation(s); per your friends' permission and availability.
 
Same accommodation guests share the same bus and the same activities schedule!
In case your travel group size is more than 1 bus, please, select accommodation options on the same bus. If we are obliged to split the group or there is a last-minute bus change, we will keep travellers from the same accommodation together.

If you booked the trip after the email was sent, an accommodation spot will be automatically assigned to you. If you didn’t receive the email, please check your spam folder, ask your friends to share it with you, or contact our Customer Service Team.
Where in Lofoten is the accommodation?

Our accommodation partners in Lofoten are in Svolvær, Stamsund and Kabelvåg. The exact accommodation location is available 10-14 days before the trip departure.

All travellers on the same trip (who booked the trip from the same trip page) will share nearby accommodation.

How can I win a free trip?

By purchasing a trip from us before September 1, you participate in a raffle to win back the value of your purchase. The full refund includes also the activities associated with the trip order, even if they have been booked separately.

Twenty winners will be contacted by email by September 15 and refunds will be processed within 2-3 weeks.

Are there any meals included?

In order to get the trip price as low as possible, we stay in self-catering cottages. Meals are not included.

There are basic kitchen facilities in the cottages and dorms. Kitchens are equipped with plates, glasses, mugs, knives, a stove and a fridge. Some cottages have an oven or a microwave.

We will have a stop at a grocery store on the way to Lofoten. You can talk with your cabin mates and prepare foods together in order to cut down the costs. Some cottages do not have an oven, so don’t buy any groceries (such as frozen pizza) that will need an oven to prepare.

Is there Wi-Fi available in Lofoten?

Some cabins have Wi-Fi, some don't.

• Warm, windproof, and waterproof clothes

• Proper hiking shoes (if you are planning to go hiking, sneakers are not the best solution)

• Swimming suit + towel

• Anything else you may need during the trip: money, medicine, etc.

• Student card for discounts

• Credit card for program payments

• A small pillow or a special neck cushion for the bus trip.

• A multiplug to the socket, in case there are not enough sockets

• Bed linen and towel set (if you do not have it with you, it can be rented, for an extra cost)

What happens if I am found intoxicated during the journey and activities?

During the trip the participants are required to be physically and mentally fit.

If the guide considers that a traveller is endangering or harming the tour staff or the other travellers with their behaviour due to intoxication, the traveller's trip will be terminated as per Terms and Conditions point 5 here.

Is there an age limit for the trip?

Almost everyone can join the trip. If you are travelling with someone very young or senior, you might wish to consider the following factors:

  • every traveller must be able to use a standard bus seat for a few hours, without seat support;
  • the accommodation's common areas (bathroom, kitchen, living room) are shared with other travellers and some accommodation rooms might be shared with other travellers too;
  • the activities are tuned-up for young adults full of energy.

Buy ONLY groceries that can be prepared without an oven.

Prepaid activities are considered a tour package, so there are no partial refunds if you have changed your mind! You can still sell your place for the activity to someone else in your group.

The bus trip will be overnight from your departure point to Lofoten, so we recommend taking a pillow with you to the bus.

We recommend bringing some warm sleeping clothes as some rooms might be a bit chilly at night.
