If the weather allows, we walk up to Sólheimajökull glacier to marvel at it from the side.

We are back in Reykjavik around 19:00.

DAY 3 – Golden circle and Geothermal bath (included)

8:30 Departure by bus from the hostel. Today we are ready to explore the famous Golden Circle starting from Þingvellir National Park - a UNESCO protected site where the Vikings founded the first democratic parliament in 930. Þingvellir is also a site of geological significance - the park lies in a rift valley that marks the crest of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge and the boundary between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Iceland is the only place in the world where the tectonic plates and the ocean ridge are visible on land.

The next stops are by the majestic and powerful Gullfoss waterfalls, The Great Geysir, and Strokkur Geysir, which erupts every eight minutes, shooting hot water high into the air, creating a spectacular show.

During this day we might spot some Icelandic horses, a special breed unique to Iceland.

16:00 We end the day relaxing in a geothermal bath. The Secret Lagoon, known locally as Gamla Laugin, is the oldest swimming pool in Iceland. It was made in 1891 at Hverahólmi, a geothermal area near Flúðir. What makes this place special are the rich natural resources of warm water coming from hot springs. Vaðmálahver, Básahver, or Litli Geysir (active geyser which spouts every few minutes, showing off for the guests), provide 100% of the water supply in the lagoon. Bring your swimsuit and towel, snacks and water bottle.

We will be back in Reykjavik around 19:30.

8:00 Departure by bus to a hike in Reykjadalur, the Valley of Steam (optional)

You will hike past many steaming vents and bubbling springs while enjoying the beautiful views. The path goes up, down, and along the faces of hills, and though it sometimes gets quite steep, it is manageable for anyone comfortable on their feet in reasonable health. With rough weather conditions (wind/rain/snow) good physical condition and solid hiking boots are required. For your safety and to protect nature, you have to stay on the path all the time.

We will bumble down close to 9 kilometres and have the best time! As only a few activity companies do - we provide you with drysuits that protect you from cold and ensure that you can have fun in the water!

Back in Reykjavik around 20:00

The mountain Snæfell was torn apart when the volcano collapsed and is seen as one of the planet's power centres. We start the day in Borgarnes - a scenic coastal town with historical significance, followed by a photo-stop by the iconic Kirkjufell, after which we climb on top of the Saxholl volcano crater, visiting coastal rock formations in Arnarstapi and hope to spot some seals on Ytri Tunga beach.
